About the Rutland Chinese Restaurant
History
The Rutland Chinese Restaurant is a family-run business located in the market place of Oakham - a market town in the smallest county in England, Rutland. The restaurant first opened its doors in 1974, located on Castle Lane - just a few doors down. Five years of thriving business resulted in a move to our current location. The restaurant has undergone a few "facelifts" during its time but the underlying premise of our business remains the same: great food, wonderful value, and a friendly and clean dining atmosphere.
Today
The restaurant is now under the management of Annie and Simon Cheung. A husband and wife team who know all about the business. Simon - who's been head chef at the restaurant for over a decade - continues to produce cuisine that rivals any UK Cantonese restaurant. His attention to detail and culinary skills are well aligned with his desire to ensure all his customers have an enjoyable evening. Annie - who also worked at the restaurant before taking a break to raise a family - returns to manage the front of the restaurant. Her keen eye for cleanliness and friendly face gives customers a warm welcome before they've even sat down!
The restaurant specialises in Cantonese cuisine, and offers a take-away service as well as sit-in meals. Our food is prepared by a team of dedicated kitchen staff, headed by a couple of experienced head chefs. We use only the best and freshest of ingredients, that enable us to produce food of such high standard in both taste and texture.
